We are now moving through the Sundays after Pentecost. The myriad of special Sundays that we encountered in the earlier months of the year are behind us. In this quieter season the church seeks to relate its faith as a people of God to Christ's mission in the world, remembering the promise of the Holy Spirit to counsel and guide the church's life.
Beginning on Trinity Sunday, this season is a period of time that varies in length depending on whether Easter is early or late and concludes with the celebration of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Christian year. For a growing number of congregations, like Scots Church, there is now a break part way through the season when in spring we celebrate the Season of Creation.
