Communities for Peace
Sunday 21st September, 2.00 – 4.00pm
To be formally opened the Moderator Dr Deidre Palmer
Guest speakers from 2.00-3.00pm, networking 3.00-4.00pm
On the afternoon of Sunday 21st September, Scots is hosting a number of peace advocacy groups for the event Communities for Peace. Although designed as a networking session for various organisations working to promote peace in South Australia and beyond, everyone is invited to attend: there will be several guest speakers, information tables on the church forecourt, and the launch of the WILPF White Poppies for Peace Campaign and Act for Peace’s No More Child Soldiers Campaign.
From the SA Synod Website: “The white poppy is an international symbol of remembrance for all the casualties of war - civilians and armed forces personnel - and of peace. Some people see it as an alternative to the red poppy, others see it as complementary; some choose to wear both poppies, some one or the other, and some no poppy at all. “
