Scots Church Adelaide welcomes all people who can be legally married in Australia to celebrate their wedding at Scots.
Our office staff will help you with the booking process and arrange a conversation with one of our ministers to begin to plan your service. 

How much does it cost to get married at Scots Church Adelaide?
The cost of a wedding at Scots Church is $1515.00. This includes the organist and flowers. (See here for full fee details)

A deposit of $200.00 confirms the date and availability of the church and minister.

What music can I have in my service?
The Scots Church organist is available to play for your service and is included in the wedding fee.
You may choose to use your own musicians for the service in consultation with the minister.
It may be possible, in consultation with the Scots’ organist, for you to have your own organist play (there is no reduction in the set fee).

Who will the minister be?
Weddings performed in Scots Church will be performed by one of our ministers.

Weddings at Scots must, by law, conform with the rites of the Uniting Church. Within those rites, there is room for inclusions, exclusions and changes. One of the Scots ministers will talk this through with you.

You are welcome to involve your own minister in the service, in consultation with the Scots minister but the Scots minister will officiate.

Do you offer marriage preparation?
The ministers of Scots offer pre-marriage counselling and would be happy to talk about this with you.

Can I have flowers and decorations in the church?
Flower arrangements (silk) are included in the wedding fee but other arrangements and decorations are welcome by negotiation with our office staff.

Can I have confetti at my service?
Because of litter laws, and the general difficulty with cleaning, people may use bubbles as part of the celebration after the service, but rice, confetti or petals are not permitted. 

Can I have a photographer or videographer in my service?
We allow photography and video during the service by the official photographers. Both must work under the minister’s instruction to minimise distractions.

What legal documents do I need?
We attend to the necessary documents to register your marriage. 

Together with the Minister, you will complete a Notice of Intent to Marry. This must be completed at least one month and one day before the date of the wedding. You will need to bring your passports, or birth certificates (or an extract). 

If you have been divorced or widowed, you will need to produce your divorce ‘decree absolute’ document, or death of spouse certificate.

If you are under 18 years, you will need special legal consent to marry. Our ministers can guide you in this paperwork.


The Uniting Church believes that baptism is an act of God’s grace.
Baptism is a precious symbol. Baptism is available for adults, children or infants.

Those being baptised are asked to dedicate their lives to God. if the person being baptised is a child their parents are asked to commit themselves publicly to nurturing their child in a Christian home and environment. The celebration of baptism occurs within a normal worship service and the congregation makes promises to support the one being baptised.

The minister must gain approval from the Church Council to perform a baptism, so please contact Scots well in advance of any plans you may have. While it may not be possible to reserve particular dates, our ministers will work with you on suitable times. 

There is no cost for baptisms.
